Weer een paar luister avonden gehad.
Op het ogenblik staan er zo’n 24 spelende sets in huis waarvan ik er 4 heb laten horen.
Ook 2 sets die in ontwikkeling zijn.
Vind het soms erg prettig om gedegen commentaar te krijgen.
Kris is componist van beroep , en luistert naar een set , alsof hij staat te dirigeren.
Hij is erg kritisch en zoekt naar “ een correcte 3D afbeelding” in de luisterruimte.
Hij had al naar diverse sets (o.a. B&W van 30.000) geluisterd.
Hij was zo vriendelijk om een soort van review te doen over zijn beleving bij mij.
Voor mij is dit de vierde keer in een maand dat ik hoor : “dit is de meest muzikale set ter wereld”.
Maar om dit nu zelf te gaan zeggen zou te zijn.

Yesterday i was with Leon Huijgen together with Martin Snijder
I have heart 4 systems with Leon.
First some things about all these systems: This systems are all different and they all have their ways of bringing you into the Music. Some systems do this better. But in all 4 cases we are talking about Music… not about sound. Leon congrats… you did it… not much people do it like you
2 systems scored ca 100% and were finished
other 2 are in progress but promise a lot of things !!
Trio with Lowther 8 inch and 2 x 15 inch Woofers. (and a tweeter / projection).
100% means not the best i heart… it means LIVE situation…
1) Microdetails: 100%
2) 3d Projection surrounding 95-100%
3) 3d staging 80%
4) Musical impressions 95%
5) Cohorence 100% !
6) Coloration / equalisation 70%
7) Bas 100% !
Mid 100% but a little bit shouty
9) High 90%
About point 6: I think basses are PERFECT… but for me a bit loud… and between 2000 and 3000 hz i hear 2 to 3 db too much, but this might be an personal issue… but for classical Music i would try to get this freq range a bit lower… but this also might sound more “borring” maybe in pop and jazz Music.
Conclusion: this set belongs to the 5 best systems ever heard ! GO ON !!

About point 7: I think basses are very very good… but for me: i would like to hear less freq. Between 150 and 300, like 1 or 2 db less and it would be PERFECT… between 1000 and 5000 hz i would like 1 or 2 db increase but its not that important…. Its for sure one of the best monitors i heart… If i consider this 2 points it would be a harbeth alike sound… great ! would maybe take 3 or 4 litre extra on this box. Leon you can make 4000 euro monitors… for 10% of the price Go on !! Absolute great.
Dubble base with 2 very nice woofers and a horn tweeter.

This speaker has GREAT basses… mid is to small for my personal taste… Skip the horn I never liked horns… in my life… and this one you did not change my opinion
Conclusion: Not my speaker… in general this system is still VERY good… dont forget. Getting a midrange to the system will make (in my opinion) a very great speaker from it.

Final Conclusion. The trio with Lowther is mindblowing and belongs to the best speakers on the planet…. Go on Leon
En mijn commentaar bij alle sets , met foto’s , zodat je weet waar e.e.a. over gaat.
Some points by me : The Leonidas XO allows “voicing” for personal taste. For me ; I love high quality bass , so a little more. You can eliminate the (small) rise at 2~3 kHz. same story ; this gives some extra accent on upper piano and female voices , just the way I like it
The "Krill monitor" ; runs on 2 different XO's, could only demonstrate one of them : 12/12 series XO. Difficult to say about your own product ; this is one of the best possible ! (Of course they have my sonic signature
)
System III is the "Dragonfly" stretched 12/12 series XO , over a compression horn and 2 12 inch OB woofers. Great bass !! Within the design targets I do believe this id going to be a great sytem . Still working on it. Just have the strong feeling that I can do better
This will take some more time. I do work with Kristoffer Zegers remarks and take notice of them !!
System IV is (now) a clear winner. Been waiting for this great carboncone unit for a year . Now I can run this PAP platform system with 2 woofers in parallel. So higher spl. and.......Running on Leonidas XO topology !! Gonna do another (optical) version of this system near future....We had another listening session this evening ; this system was the winner again !!
About unit synergy : 2 woofers , one mid and ambient tweeter , 4 part XO (incl. resistors !!!)
