Smakelijke Vifa drivers

Mooi dat ze doorgaan. Tymphany had de naam Vifa inderdaad al geschrapt, en hier en daar (vooral in Duitsland) werden de resterende drivers afgelopen jaar al voor een habbekrats opgeruimd.
De drivers hierboven zien er in elk geval goed uit! Dit lijkt me geen driver die je nog aan de magneet zou willen ophangen, maar die je tegen een al even stijve baffle wilt schroeven -> het niet abrubt eindigende chassis met geleidelijk verlopend profiel kan wel eens behoorlijk stijf en resonantie-arm zijn.

Ziet er inderdaad uit als een ScanSpeak Illuminator. Tenminste de conus en de basket doen daar aan denken.
Ze wilden Vifa als merknaam voor complete speakers gebruiken. Toen hebben ze Peerless V-line geïntroduceerd. Toen bleek dat de complete kasten van Vifa geen succes werden hebben ze alles snel weer teruggeschroefd.

Tymphany is developing an entirely new range of VIFA drivers that will simplify the product lineup while maintaining the core values of the Vifa brand. Prototypes of the new driver line, scheduled to launch January 2009, will be on display at Tymphany’s suite at CEDIA in September 2008.
“The new products were designed to offer the clarity and transparency for which Vifa is known, combined with a modern look and taking advantage of the latest materials,” says Carsten Tingaard, Chief Engineer at Tymphany’s Taastrup, Denmark facility. “We have also concentrated on commonality of parts, which makes these drivers highly customizable, in most cases, with minimal tooling”.
The new range will include the following:
Woofers/subwoofers from 4” to 12” diameter
Midrange/full range drivers from 2” to 4” diameter
Tweeters from 0.75” to 1.5” diameter
The woofers will feature die cast baskets with neodymium motors and will be highly customizable for OEM customers, with cone materials ranging from paper and wood fiber to aluminum and other super stiff alloys. The tweeters will have a choice of hard or soft domes, with multiple materials available. The full range drivers is aimed at compact home theater and consumer electronics applications, as well as professional applications in telecommunication devices.
